Archive for September, 2012

Well, it is a mixed bag of sad and happy today. Let me give my shout out to all those Libra’s in my life whose birthdays are all within a week of one another…

First, there’s my mom (RIP) who passed about eight years ago now – her birthday is today…
then my younger sister celebrates one of the BIG ones on Oct. 2, that ends with a zero – – just 2 figures, now, she IS younger than I, but not by much!!!
Then my special set of musketeer (4 of us) friends with whom I have managed to still hang out since sooooo long ago, from those glory days of high school, in the all girl Catholic school, where we all graduated together and hung out with our boyfriends, and you know… all the stuff that good friends do together, including rooming together after graduating and moving out on our own… OK so TWO of them celebrate their Libra-ness, one on Sept 29 and the other, (I hope I’m right), is Oct 3. Three of us drove to Alaska, in the early 70’s, shortly after the Al-Can highway had been completed (if it even was completed then). Then. later in the decade, two of them (the 2 Libras, actually), traveled to TX and had a real fun but scary time, finding themselves in the desert one night, with some bandoleros who just might have killed them, if they’d stuck around!!

Now, on the other end of the emotion spectrum, I just found out that a dear, very dear, virtual friend from DA, died last week, at only 48 years of age, Mark was a prolific artist, and within the last year had received a whole new blazing fast mega mega mega GH and GB system, and he became even more prolific. And good. He is one of the best fractal artists I know, and even though he posted many images a day, he always titled them with his tongue deftly in cheek, but not. I REALLY miss him. He lived in the UK, and even though we never met, we got to know each other and I can honestly say, I love you Mark!!!

So, for today’s fractals, we are going to take a look at some of his outstanding work. I think he had an accident, early in his life, that somehow handicapped him, but you’d never know it seeing his art!

If you want to check out his gallery you can see all his stuff in his DA gallery. His screen name was kram666 and he loved talking about all things mystical, mythical, cosmological, astronomical and even spiritual. This entire post is dedicated to and featuring Mark, my dear, dear friend, whom I miss the hell out of already!!!

So, I hope you enjoy the images from his gallery I’ll be presenting… and just for the heck of it, one of Mark’s favorite bands was Pink Floyd, so our musical choice today says it all…

and now prepare your eyes for some MAGIC…

Mark lived with a fox family in his backyard, which he faithfully photographed for well over a year…

Mark loved quoting some of the philosophers of life:
“Nobody knows who I am or what I do. Not even I . ” ~Don Juan Matus
“Think for yourself and question authority.” ~ (?) Mark, maybe? (it was his signature)
“To learn how to use your head, you have to go out of your mind.” ~ T.Leary
“Turn on , tune in , drop out…” Timothy Leary
““There are three side effects of acid: enhanced long-term memory, decreased short-term memory, and I forget the third.” ~ Mark (?)

You are missed, Mark. I hope it is as spectacular as you’d hoped!!! But you didn’t stick around for December 21, 2012. Hmmmmm…
Comments from Mark, with one of his fractals: “Mayans used the numerical numbers 13 and 20 as the root of their numerical systems and hence, the Mayan calendar ends on which represents the number 5,126. Given that the calendar begins on August 11, 3114 BC they Mayan creation date or “fourth cycle”, 5,126 days later is 12/21/2012 marking the mysterious end of the Mayan calendaring system.”

Well, I just love this guy’s FB page and he makes me laugh every day!!!
WTG George!!!

Smile for you for Wednesday!!!

Be the Peace…

Greetings, all…

A friend has shared the following in a journal post on his wonderful DA site.  The title of his journal, in blue below is a link to his actual journal. In the interest of global peace and harmony, I have linked you to it.

‘Be the Peace’ Meditation Hour

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 20, 2012, 7:19 AM

by Kancano

Hi everybody, this journal has the purpose to both inspire and invite you to join in one of the largest globally-synchronized meditation and prayer events in history! In celebration of the International Day of Peace, hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals worldwide will join together as One for a worldwide “Be The Peace” event. “Be The Peace” will feature public meditation/prayer events in over 380 cities worldwide from Friday, September 21st, 2012
6:00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. in local time zones, creating a profound planetary wave of peace. For more information about the Global “Be the Peace” event please visit [link].
At the end of the “word” part of his journal Kancano composed a lovely photo montage, so I hope you will journey over to see it.
Also, Kancano shares the link to BeThePeace which is the source for information on this event for Friday, 09/21/2012, International Day of Peace.
I hope you take a moment to read about this worldwide event/wave and possibly feel/experience the spirituality as the peaceful energy moves through your own part of the world.
Metta love to you all, and thanks for stopping in…
PS If I try real hard, mayhaps I can publish my FridayFractalFeature during the specified hour of my local time. I have a feeling that sharing my fractal inspirations might be a fruitful contribution to the international energy of peace.
B is for BeThePeace
M is for Metta love
P is for Peace

Just wanted to share, if you are interested. It is rather long, but my friend says they are most articulate. Many of us have made up our minds, though not all, methinks… Many of us have this issue on upcoming election ballots…

First video is Oprah’s in depth story about Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka, including some thoughts from Harris’ parents. Kind of long, but might be interesting to browse.

Second is former Minnesota governor and his wife, Jesse and Terry Ventura. This one is short.

Just sharin…

thanks for stopping in…

Cats and Their Friends

Here’s hoping these bring some warmth and smiles to your Monday…

First, from this Friday Fractalist…

Good day, fellow fractal lovers…

How goeth your Friday so far?

Just a little sharing, ok? I’ve never had the joyful experience of child raising, except perhaps way back in the days of my adolescence, when my family began to fracture and I became parent-in-training to all 8 of my younger siblings. So, when a child left home for their first day of school, or to get a place of their own, or to go to college or get married – that was not part of my job as ersatz parent, or at least I didn’t really go through the deep emotions an actual parent must upon seeing their offspring take out on their own, to make their place in the world and make their mark.

Why on earth would I be bringing this up, then, since I’ve not experienced it? Well, truth is, I AM experiencing it now as I hold onto my (nearly) finished book, at least the important part, the body of it that has all my (children) fractals and their titles in it. I am having separation anxiety. But I keep reminding myself, I can’t hold on to my “kids” forever! Hard as it may be, I WILL be sending it off to my publisher, soon. There will still be details, like the ForeWord and AfterWord content, covers, etc, but though I do want them to be just right, I don’t foresee any hesitance in letting them go, knowing they will be out there to enhance the life of my dear creations. I put my heart and soul into the creation of each and every fractal I create.

They are a part of me. Sooner and sooner, now, they will be going off on their own, taking the chance of standing on their own credit and making the world a better place. OK. I’m done!

And thanks for (listening) reading. Everyone who has seen my fractals has also become a part of them, of me, so I just wanted to share. Thanks!!!

OK, then, back to our regular Friday feature…

a little music, Maestro…

LOVE the bass intro!!!

and now………………

for some fractal love…

Reblogged, in its entirety from,b=facebook

Editor’s note: Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has voiced his support for a Maryland ballot initiative that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state. In response, Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns, Jr. (D-Baltimore) wrote a letter to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti urging him to “inhibit such expressions from your employee.” In the open letter below, Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe responds to Burns.

Dear Emmett C. Burns, Jr.,

I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of the United States government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level. The views you espouse neglect to consider several fundamental key points, which I will outline in great detail:

1. As I suspect you have not read the Constitution, I would like to remind you that the very first amendment in this founding document deals with the freedom of speech, particularly the abridgment of said freedom. By using your position as an elected official (when referring to your constituents in order to implicitly threaten the Ravens organization) to argue that the Ravens should silence Brendon Ayanbadejo from voicing his support for same-sex marriage, not only are you clearly violating the First Amendment, but you come across as a narcissistic fromunda stain. What on Earth would possess you to say something so mind-boggingly stupid? It baffles me that a man such as yourself, a man who relies on that same First Amendment to pursue your own religious studies without fear of persecution from the state, could somehow justify stifling another person’s right to free speech. To call that “hypocritical” would be to do a disservice to the word. “Mindfuckingly, obscenely hypocritical” starts to approach it a little bit.

2. You wrote, “Many of your fans are opposed to such a view and feel it has no place in a sport that is strictly for pride, entertainment and excitement.” Holy fucking shitballs. Did you seriously just say that, as someone who is, according to your Wikipedia page, “deeply involved in government task forces on the legacy of slavery in Maryland”? Have you not heard of Kenny Washington? Jackie Robinson? As recently as 1962 the NFL still had segregation, which was only done away with by brave athletes and coaches daring to speak their mind and do the right thing, and you’re going to say that political views have “no place in a sport”? I can’t even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for “beautiful oppressionism”).

3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different from what you believe, or act differently from you? How does gay marriage affect your life in any way, shape, or form? Are you worried that if gay marriage became legal, all of a sudden you’d start thinking about penis? (“Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!”) Will all your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely. Gay people enjoy watching football, too.)

I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won’t come into your house and steal your children. They won’t magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won’t even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population, rights like Social Security benefits, childcare tax credits, family and medical leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA health care for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gay Americans? Full-fledged citizens, just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?

In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter in some small way causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot-in-mouth clusterfuck you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. Best of luck in the next election; I’m fairly certain you might need it.

Chris Kluwe

P.S. I’ve also been vocal as hell about the issue of gay marriage, so you can take your “I know of no other NFL player who has done what Mr. Ayanbadejo is doing” and shove it in your closed-minded, totally-lacking-in-empathy pie hole.

Hi all…

I have been totally out of it for this entire past week, as in health and heat demons finally got the best of me, and all I could do was lie here and take it!!! Those demons managed to drain me of all my intestinal fortitude, and then some!! Today is the first day I’m daring to venture out in a week, and even now, I’m not sure how my strength and stamina will hold out. Just have to wait and see, I guess… this is the first I’ve peeked out from under the covers for DAYS! Let’s see how it goes…

a couple tunes for your listening pleasure…

(hope there’s none of this in my route today)…

and we’re off….

Well, that should do it for today…  Neural Zone and Picture Window were both created using a fractal generator called Fractal Science Kit. It is a little more difficult for me, because the interface works a lot better if you get the math (which I don’t), but I can still get a few things. Last week, Perhaps and Nirvana were also from Fractal Science Kit, which you can download for a free trial period (30 days, I think).. The creator, Ross Hilbert, also shows many of his images on his DA site. His images are a LOT nicer than mine!!!
So I hope you have enjoyed today’s offerings. I MUST say, I’m so glad the DNC and RNC are both over. What IS with that Clint Eastwood, anyway?!?!? I think he was still in character for his latest flick.

Now that summer’s officially over, time to pack away those white shoes (NOT) and put up the storm windows. Maybe we can hold off for a while, though. This is my perfect weather, 70-75 F during the day, 55-60 F overnight!! I could live with this FOREVER!!!

Almost forgot, Red over at M3 (with one of my favorite weekly features: Friday Follies) has finally got her new poetry book out. That’s her second book in as many months! “Taming the Terrible Two’s” is just what it sounds like and “Mantra for a Muse” is gobsmack full of Red’s and Mantra’s poetic works. They are truly amazing poetry. I just got the e-book and hope to review the whole thing for you, but I warn you, I do love to savor poetry, take my time, so I can absorb all its lovely facets, hidden and not. So don’t hold your breath for the review. Better yet, why don’t you run over and get yourself a copy of one or both!

One last thing, I hope you will all forgive me for not only not getting around to your blogs, this past week, but I haven’t even responded to ANY comments from last week or newer. I am taking it slow, so I don’t wear myself out before the book is done. Wouldn’t that be awful?!?!? I finally get a book deal and I kick the bucket before I can send it off to the publisher!!! That is NOT going to happen!!!

I may just spend another day or so hiding out under the covers, to make sure all those terrible health and heat demons are truly gone!!!

Happy weekend, all. And don’t forget to tell someone you love them, at least by giving them a good hard hug.

love and hugs and peace to y’all…
