Greetings… wasn’t it just yester… oh wait – it practically was, wasn’t it? Monday, anyway – not THAT many days ago, really, especially when a whole week of your life has been swallowed up by some virulent viral vitriol… and apparently none of us are alone, falling into that quirky black hole of time/space. So here’s hoping everyone has passed through those ugly gates of illness and has come out on the other side, not too much the worse for wear!

Well, let’s not waste any time this week getting to the reason we’re all here… the FRACTALS!!!
So I guess you are all wondering what ever happened to that chick that used to hang around here and, you know, make fractals and stuff… well, she’s not dead, but for a few days there she really wished she were.
What I mean to say is that I was so sick I couldn’t even enjoy layin’ around doing nothing. Doesn’t it just suck when you call in sick and you’re really sick!?!?!?
Well, that’s what happened, folks, and it wasn’t no party (birthday party, that is)! See, my birthday was Tuesday, and I was so miserable that day it couldn’t get over fast enough! In fact, I was totally off the grid for an entire week, all the while wondering why I was so blessed to have the worst birthday ever!?!?!?
To put this all into perspective, let me just shove a few phrases your way… primordial soup, blocked energies, please, just let it be over, there’s gotta be some changes around here!! Oh, and of course lots of moaning and groaning!! I think it was five days before I even had the energy or desire to try and eat or drink something!
What did come out of it was an understanding that, in fact all my energies, spiritual, psychic, cuber, physical, emotional were all out of kilter and wreaking havoc with all those various aspects of me. And the result of this introspection, was I didn’t know if I were outside looking in, or inside looking out. What I did discover is that I was doing some stupid things like swimming upstream just to have sex and then die, figuratively speaking, of course. Now that’s good for some salmon and such, but usually not too effective for people.
So that’s what happens around my birthday – I get all “resolutiony”, like most folks do four weeks earlier at the start of the year. So here I am, on the other side of it and not much wiser for it all!
Let me bottom line it for you. I need to listen to myself, inner and ethereal and stuff like that. And make sure I’m not just plowing ahead because that’s what I did yesterday. We have all these situations and circumstances that we get caught up in. Some we can change, some not. The trick is to know the difference and find a creative way of dealing with whatever is not changeable such that it’s not as bad as it seemed. Or, perhaps even coming up with a creative alternative. That actually turns it into a positive experience!

Good day, all… hope this is the beginning of a wonderful and peaceful weekend for you during this hectic time… and for those of you expecting snow, remember how you looked forward to the snow back in the hot, hot, hot summer!
Seems like all the commercials on TV these days are for 1) all the wonderful THINGS you can have get for someone, 2) how cheap it will be to fill your cart with all these wonderful THINGS because there is also a sale on CREDIT or 3) if you are alone, perhaps lonely, all you need do to be like everyone you see in all the other commercials is sign up with eharmony, or match.com, or the like (jdate??? are you serious?)
Since I’m broker than broke, there will be no gifts to buy, no dinners to cook, no special tips for those special people in my life (like my hairdresser, whose services I haven’t been able to afford for over a year!!).
But that is not only OK with me, it is perfectly fine. First of all, what’s wrong with being alone. I spend time with folk I like and love and respect. Like Mama, who just walked over to say a silent “hi” – she must know I am writing about her! And with myself, too.
Now, I’m not saying bah humbug! I like the feelings in the air, the anticipation, the joy, the spirit of giving. It is a nice time of year, indeed.

Sometimes, real life just has to take precedence, and be a prioroty, which is what happened this weekend. Sorry for those of you who are habituated to my feature making it always on Friday… I knew this would happen, when I bragged about how often I’ve actually made the post on every Friday save one. That’s what I get for committing one of the seven deadlies – PRIDE!!

Well, it’s been a rough week, sort of. I’ve been surrounded by death, though, thankfully, none of them directly connected to me. Still sadness all around, though.
I’ve spent a lot of this week wondering how I can s-t-r-e-t-c-h my fixed income for the extra / 5th week this month. For the most part, it’s trying to make the same amount that barely lasts 4 weeks last for another week! S-I-G-H!!!
Lastly, I was disrespected, no, actually emotionally abused by a very long time passive aggressive “friend”. I have since decided I’ve given him the “benefit of the doubt” enough over the decades and he just pushed too hard and too far. Another S-I-G-H!!!
Otherwise, every day I get to spend making fractals, or working with them in some way is a good day. I’ve had a fair share of them this week. And I’ve found some friends also sell art on some of the same sites I do. Some good art too!! (see below in related links.)

It’s your choice, El Guapo… and you don’t even have to tell us what you decide… it can be your secret fractal!
I’ll tell y’all all about how he came to my rescue, so to speak, next week or so – he’s an ALL right fella, in my world!!!

Have a great weekend! This is the weekend I send the whole rest of the book off to the publisher and that’s good, better, best!!! We had a good chat today and we are both clearly on the same page (pun intended?) which means, this is going just how I want it to…
Fractal #2, “What Is a Fractal” is part of the Foreword section of the book, as I really want to help everyone who has any interest in fractals get to know a little more about them, without having to be a mathematician or a computer geek. I hope it conveys a window into the mysteries of fractals and leaves a little light on, for whoever want to know some of the secrets of fractals. That piece was a collaboration with the talented Kim Redd. I’m so happy she’ll let me put it into the book!!!
