Tuesday (today 4/2/13) is Day 2 of the April 2013 AtoZ Challenge…
In my excitementI may have forgotten to mention my theme – it will be fractals, fractal art, everything fractal up to and including my new book Fractal Dreams! Have a look around my pages and such to see lots more fractals. Also, every Friday I post a FridayFractalFeature (fff, for short) for all to enjoy! Thanks for stopping by and engaging in the A to Z 2013 Challenge! This is my FIRST ever, so I’m pretty excited! So every day I will post a fractal whose title starts with the letter of the day… and perhaps other things fractal related.
B is for….
Buddhakat – why, that’s me, of course. Or, more specifically our family name, the Buddhakats. Our family currently consists of myself – the fractal artist, of the genus felinus humanus (Janet, head cat), Mama – all gray long hair (meow – mother to Mimi) and Mimi, all black short hair (meow – daughter to Mama). They used to be Michelle (Mama) and Miriam (Mimi), but when they moved in they wanted to change their names. So we did. They seem to like their new names just fine!
Book – as in my new book FRACTAL DREAMS currently available at RedmundPro
Benoit – as in Benoit B Mandelbrot, the mathematician for developing a “theory of roughness” in nature. He also coined the word “fractal” and wrote the defining book on the science of fractals, Fractals: Form, Chance and Dimension in 1975. It was translated to English shortly after that.
the fractal for B is: Behind Bars
-
- Behind Bars is not in my book, Fractal Dreams, which is available exclusively at RedmundPro.
- Check out all my art at the following galleries:

- Disclaimer: I am NOT a mathematician, so please forgive the uneducated tone of my definitions. I am an artist, so I try to explain the math of fractals to the best of my (limited) ability.
I like the repetition of this one. I like the delta of the stripes which go in the opposite direction on the colorful bits. Excellent B, Janet.
Thank you, Ms Red… haven’t done my hopping for B yet, so I’ll be By later…
🙂
PS I think my # was about 1337, yesterday – I probably won’t get to 3 digits! What’s yours?
Have not looked today, but I started out at 1150. I have a shot at getting below 1,000. There are nearly 2,000 of us registered now. I am lucky. The five after me are all active (two started late). Last year, I was more than 15 away before I managed to get five blogs keeping up.
The list will start shrinking tomorrow. xxx
Works for me … the different colors in between the repetitive pattern makes it.
You know, it’s so obvious, but I never realized before you and Red mentioned it – that tension of curves going in opposite directions is quite good!
thanks, Frank!!
🙂
Well know … not bad eyes for a non-artist. 😉
I love this – it’s so rainbow without being a rainbow… and seeing as that symbol seems to represent the LBGT movement it’s nice to find another one… for everyone 🙂
What a nice comment! Thanks, Ida!! Nice to meet you!
🙂
This one is such a different look. I LIKE it.
*little curtsie*
thank you ma’am!!!
🙂
It looks like someone spraypainted the coloseum and then took an photo from a blimp. Nice. I like it. Be is also for Beautiful and this is.
and B is for Bo!! Thanks, Bo, for being here and sharing your wonderful perspective! I love your description!
🙂
B is for brilliant. Looks like the inside of one of those slinkies!!
Great observation!! Never realized there was so much going on inside a slinky!!!
🙂
Cool fractal….
Are the Buddhakats related to the Thunder Cats haha
Hi Bearman!! Great to see you! Oh my, I’ve not heard of the Thundercats, but it looks like they were a pretty powerful group o’ cats! Mama and Mimi may be keeping it a secret from me, but I would think they would have bragged a bit about their super alien lineage!!
🙂
This is SO COOL (I mean Bully! Bam! Behold!) I love today’s entry, Behind Bars. The colors, the textures, the curves, it is just Bodacious, Janet. (Stopping in on my A to Z visits.)
I dropped from 1333 to 1310 and figure my number will go down some more. This is my first year in the A to Z challenge and I’m loving it. Except I do a real estate blog so I’m mostly using place names so far. I love what you’ve got here!
Gotta love your enthusiasm!!! I truly appreciate it! Nice to meetcha… stopped over at yours first and have to say I LOVE your Concept (sorry, it’s C day, now)!! I especially admire how you mix business with pleasure! It is a definite asset for you, I’d say!!!
I checked my # too, and fell to 1335 from 1337. And this is my first evah A to Z Challenge too. Sure are some Crazy/fun ideas out there!! Thanks for stopping in!!
🙂
PS hopefully if you have clients looking for decorating tips, you’ll point them to my galleries! I will certainly steer anyone looking for CA property your way!!
Pretty. Following from the A-Z challenge
Thank you so much! I’ll stop by yours too! Thanks for hopping in!!
🙂
I haven’t seen fractal art before…it’s beautiful. Lovely site.
Now that’s what I’m talking about! I absolutely love turning folks on to fractal based art. Thanks for hopping in to check mine out! Thank you for your kind words… I’ll be by to check out your site, as well!
🙂
Ok, put that fractal in with my favorites.
Right on, dude! They’re kind of fun, even without the music, eh!?!?!? (no worries, regularly scheduled FFF with tunes will be published!)
🙂
This one almost feels as if it waves. I like this, the color and the movement.
This one evolved into something I’m quite proud of! Thanks for your kind words, Valentine!!

Hi, I´m stopping by on my A to Z Road trip, and here I have definitely discovered something that is new to me! I am not sure I have really understood what fractals is, but that doesn´t matter, these matterns are so intriguing. This one is one of my favourites. It makes me think of embroidery, or landscape art, but then coloured. Another one made me think of a kaleidoscope. Nice that you have also highlighted other bloggers in your posts, that´s a great idea. Congrats to this colourful A to Z!
